    PPA108 & Paper Players #60 - CAS Style & Sketch - Friendly Phrases

This week the Pals Paper Arts challenge is CAS Element of Style - PPA108 - Create a CAS (clean and simple) card and round some corners - or adorn some corners.......whatever you need to do to take the edge off! To join the fun click here.

The Paper Players challenge is a CAS Sketch PP60 designed by the talented LeAnne Pugliese. To join the fun with the sketch click here.

After my original post, based on this sketch, I got another idea for a card and than when I saw the challenge at the Pals Paper Arts, I thought why not try to combine the two.

Like I said, it's all about having fun and go with the ideas that come to you. I did focus this time around on Clean and Simple since both challenges have this element. I took the stamp set Friendly Phrases and combined 3 stamp phrases for this card.

First I stamped the words in Real Red ink and used my 1 1/4" circle punch. Than, I used my 1 3/8" punch to cut 3 basic black circles for matting behind it.

For the center, I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch for the Whisper White flower and than used the Boho Blossom Punch with Real Red cardstock and the little flower on top. Added a basic gem to top it off.

I used the embossing folder, Finial Press to add some texture to the background and for the ribbon, I used 5/8" satin Basic Black. Of course to soften the edges for the Pals Paper Arts challenge, I used my corner rounder on the bottom of the card and around the sentiment section.

Last but not least, I used my stampin dimensionals under the sentiment section to pop it out a little for the main attraction. Hope you enjoy!! This stamp set has several cute saying!!

Mojo Monday MOJO205 - Sketch - Posy Punch with Cheerful Treats

Once again, it's another weekly challenge at Mojo Monday with a unique sketch designed by Maria Gurnsey, MOJO205. The challenge is to mix up some fun borders, or keep it simple if you prefer.  The important thing is to have fun! Easy to join, click here to go directly to the challenge.

Here is mine

I will admit this was quite the challenge for me, but little by little it finally came together and I liked the way it came out in the end after so many revisions. I'm sure everyone knows what's that like.....put it on, take it off, not this color, try that color, no not this size, try smaller, or bigger.

Anyways, it's a challenge and that's the key....also have fun in the process!!!

I do love this set, Posy Punch, first it's cute and second it's easy to punch out. I used Melon Mambo ink and Concord Crush and matted it with a 2 1/4" circle using Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

Here I used some white grosgrain ribbon and some pink waxy flax I had stored in my draw along with a pink button.

For the fun borders, I used the Bigz XL Die, Tasteful Trim for the scallop border in Wisteria Wonder and than used the corner Pinking Hearts and matching Pinking Hearts border punch for the bottom portion of the card using Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

DSP is Cheerful Treats which is a hostess item along with the stamp set Posy Punch. Almost forgot, I did use stampin dimensionals under the Posy Punch to pop up just a little.  Hope you enjoy!!!

The Paper Players CAS#60 - Sketch - Thank-you with It's a Wrap Occasions

I love sketches and this week The Paper Players has a beautiful sketch designed by the talented LeAnne Pugliese PP60. To join the fun click here to go directly to the challenge. I'm happy that this week I got a chance to play, it's always fun. Here is mine below.

I've been wanting to play around with this new stamp set called: It's a Wrap Occasions for awhile now and when I saw the sketch "in threes" with sentiment , I thought perfect, let's give it a shot.

I Picked 3 colors to work with, Island Indigo, Real Red, and Soft Suede. Each strip is 1" x 2 1/2" and works perfectly with any of the wrap images. For the cardstock, I used Pool Party and cut 3 5/8" x 2 3/4".

Later, I felt like adding more color, so I picked Pink Pirouette and cut 3 7/8" x 3" to finish off matting "the three".

I used DSP Mocha Morning Specialty and Soft Suede cardstock. For ribbon, I used 3/8" Twill Tape and stampin dimensionals to pop up the main attraction. Hope you enjoy!!

Complete List of Supplies:
  • Stamp Set - It's a Wrap Occasions (123592)c (123590)W
  • Inks - Island Indigo(122937), Real Red (103133), Soft Suede (115657)

PPA107 - Sketch Challenge - Flirtatious Specialty with A lot of Punches

Another week at the Pals Paper Arts weekly challenge and this week it's not only a beautiful sketch designed by the talentated Margaret Moody but it's Candy Blog as well, so you don't want to miss this one. Click here to go straight to their fun challenge.

Here is mine
For this card, I decided to use another favorite DSP of mine called: Firtatious Specialty and had alot of fun with punches. One being the Eyelet Border Punch in Black.

I started off with a square 2 7/8" using Rose Red cardstock and than grab my Postage Punch and cut (4) in whisper white. Adhere them to the cardstock and than put the square piece in an embossing folder. I used Houndstooth for this project.

For the sentiment, I choose Teeny Tiny Wishes using Rose Red Ink and used the Word Window Punch to cut it out. Added basic gem on each side for some bling.

For the flower, I used the stamp set: Build a Blossom along with the matching punch called: Blossom Petals Builder. Cardstock used was Pink Pirouette and Rose Red Ink. The leaves were from the same set and punch, but used Lucky Limeade card and ink.

If you haven't already, please check out their challenge this week and see all of the Design Team's pretty creations to help you get started. Hope you enjoy!!

Mojo Monday MOJO204 - Sketch - Herb Expression with Mocha Morning

Another week at Mojo Monday. This week it's a sketch design by Julee Tilman called MOJO204. I missed last week's, but was determined to play this week. To join, click here to go straight to the challenge.

The doctor's said I needed to rest more since I'm not feeling at all to well, so I do apologize for not posting this last week as much, but doing the best I can with the pregnancy. I don't have that much more to go. Yeah!!! Anyway, getting back to card business. Here is what I came up with.

Yes, it's the DSP Mocha Morning Specialty again, but this time, I used the stamp set called: Herb Expressions. To add some color, I used Blushing Bride ribbon and cardstock.

For the sentiment, I used Early Espresso and sponged around the circle using Soft Suede ink. Yes, I did use stampin dimensionals on this card under the 2 1/2" x 3" square in the middle.

For the leaves, I used the stamp set: Build a Blossom on Lucky Limeade cardstock along with the matching punch called: Blossom Petal Builder. I love this flower, but it's now retired but wanted to add something in the corner. It's called: Adorments.

I went crazy with pearls as you can see. Not sure if it's too much?? , but I ended up liking it after all. The circle size is 2 1/2" (Blushing Bride) and 21/4" circle (Very Vanilla). I used the circle scissor plus for this. Hope you enjoy!!!

PPA106 - Dress for Success - Mocha Morning Specialty

Time flys and it's already another week at the Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This week's challenge is Dress for Success. To join the fun click here to go to the challenge. It's fun!!!

Here is the challenge: Dressing for Success is easy as 1-2-3 this week at Pals Paper Arts.  Follow our simple recipe to success:  Use 1 piece of designer series paper, 1 punch and 1 sentiment.

For this card, I used the embossing folder, Framed Tulips to give the card a frame and than since I love this DSP paper, Mocha Morning Speciality, I couldn't resist.

For the sentiment, I used Early Espresso Ink and an image from the stamp set called: Tagtastic which is a hostess set which can be earned for only $10.00. You can't beat that!! Also, I can use this card for most occassions with the saying "Just for You".

Added some basic pearls, but the paper itself is elegant if you don't want to add more to it.
For the punch, I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch to go accross under the strip of black.

Hard to tell in the photo, but the card was sponged lightly with Soft Suede Ink all the way around on the outside. Stampin dimensionals were used to pop up the saying and I sponged around it using: Soft Suede ink.

Complete List of Supplies:
  • Stamp Set - Tagtastic (122747)
  • Inks - Early Espresso (119670), Soft Suede (115657)
  • Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Basic Black
  • DSP - Mocha Morning Speciality (122366)
  • Other- Stampin Dimensionals (104430),  Basic Pearls ( 119247),

Top Note Mini Purse Directions

I had questions on the little purse, so I decided to give some directions on how to make this.

1. Cut out (1) Bigz Sizzix Scallop Circle, (2) Top Notes, and  (1) Cardstock (7 1/2" w x 6" h)
2. With the cardstock facing lengthwise  at 7 1/2", score at 3 1/8" and at 4 3/8"
3. Turn cardstock

4. Cardstock facing 6" wide, Score at 1 1/4" and at 4 3/4"
5. Take the (2) Top Note Dies that you previously cut and cut the top edge to make a straight
6. With the cardstock at 7 1/2" lenghtwise, cut on the score lines up to the 1 1/4" score line.

7. Apply sticky strip as shown in picture below
8. Put the box together

9. Center the box on top of the Top Note (use Sticky Strip). It should be flush with the straight side

10. Score the Scallop Circle as shown below

11. Add 2 big eyelets in the middle of the Scallop Circle (before attaching) to purse
12. Pull through ribbon and or anything you may want to use for handles. (Tie one end of ribbon first, than pull through one eyelet. Than take the ribbon and pull through the 2nd eyelet, tie knot again, so the handle is secured in place). The knots will be under one side of scallop.

11. Attach one side of the scored scallop circle to the back with brads and or sticky strip. (photo coming)

Here is my mini purse using one of my favorite DSP paper called:
Mocha Morning Specialty
This mini purse was designed to hold 3x3 cards with envelopes as a gift for someone special, but also can be used for putting any little special gift inside.
Here is a picture of the backside of the purse which has 3 mini neutral brads

The little purse was created using the Bigz Die Top Note.
I cut out 2 of them for the front and back

The top was done by cutting out 1 Bigz Die Scallop Circle and scored to cover the front and back. I also used 2 eyelets and pulled through Chocolate Chip satin ribbon for the handles. Several neutral brads were used on the front for decoration.

I used the Decorative Label Punch to cover up the brads that were showing from the inside and at the same time it gave it a decorative look.

For the flower, I used the Birds and Bloom Sizzlits (now retired) and added a basic pearl for the center

Here are the matching cards I created to go inside the little mini purse.
The cards measure 3x3

Here is a picture with all of the cards tucked inside the mini purse

Hope you Enjoy!! More Mocha Morning Speciality to come.....
